Non Surgical Rhinoplasty

What is non surgical rhinoplasty?

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure in which dermal fillers are injected into the nose to contour and shape it to make it more attractive. The procedure is quick, cost-effective, with no surgical cutting involved. The results are semi-permanent and last for around 4 months to 3 years. The procedure is also known as liquid rhinoplasty.

Do I need nonsurgical rhinoplasty?

The treatment is ideal if you wish to reshape your nose without removing any tissues. This procedure can help smoothen the bumps on your nose, lift its tip, and raise the bridge. In short, it is used to improve the overall symmetry of your nose. The procedure is also perfect for those who are planning to do surgical rhinoplasty(permanent change) and want to see what the results will look like before going for it. It is also preferred by those who have already undergone a surgical rhinoplasty and desire minor changes now.

What to expect from your appointment?

A careful and thorough assessment of your nose will be done. The symmetry of the nose, the bridge, and the tip will be analyzed before deciding on the different areas where the filler will be injected.

Here are some tips to make the most of the procedure –

  • Avoid caffeine, high-sodium, and sugary foods two days prior to the procedure.
  • Avoid taking blood thinners and anti-inflammatory drugs 2 weeks before the procedure.
  • Wear a shirt or dress with a zipper or buttons in the front to avoid accidentally bumping your nose when getting undressed at the end of the day.
  • Drink plenty of water and eat a meal before your appointment.

Following the above tips before coming for your appointment will help avoid unwanted side effects and give you the desired results.

The procedure

You will be asked to lie down with your face tilted up. A topical anesthetic will be applied to your nose and the surrounding areas so you will not feel any pain during the procedure. Once the anesthetic takes effect, a gel-like injectable ingredient will be inserted underneath your skin in various areas of your nose, including the bridge. The ingredient will soon settle down (wherever it was injected) into the deeper layers of your skin and will hold its shape. The entire procedure lasts for 15 to 45 minutes.

The longevity of the results totally depends on your skin type, the level of changes needed, and the ingredient used for the procedure. It’s absolutely fine to feel some numbness on your nose after the treatment. There can also be some swelling and redness for 1-2 days after the procedure, which is also quite normal.

Some tips for speedy recovery include –

  • Avoid vigorous activities like exercise.
  • Do not touch and massage the injection sites for 24 hours after the procedure.
  • Apply ice packs to your nose to reduce the swelling and redness.
  • Sleep with your head elevated.
  • Stay indoors and avoid direct sun
