How does micro-needling and PRP treatment work?

This is an excellent natural treatment which uses the patient’s own plasma (extracted from the blood) to improve skin quality, texture, and glow.

This 2 stage treatment incorporates the subtle skin deep trauma created from the micro-needling in addition to the growth factors and regenerative proteins in the plasma to simulate a cellular reaction in the skin.  This reaction stimulates collagen production and skin regeneration to achieve the following:

  1. Plumper more youthful skin
  2. Smoother tighter skin
  3. Improve scarring
  4. Improve pigmentation spots
  5. Improve skin glow

What to expect from your appointment

A full consultation takes place to assess what the main concern is and what the patient aims to achieve. To make the most of the treatment, prior to the procedure we ask the patient to:

  • Eat a healthy balanced diet and reduce fatty foods
  • Reduce alcohol intake
  • Stay hydrated and drink lots of water

The above list will help improve the quality of plasma extracted from the patient and therefore improve the quality and results of the treatment.

The procedure

A tube of blood is extracted from the patient (in the same way as a blood test) and placed in a centrifuge. This tube of blood is then spun in the centrifuge machine to separate the plasma from the rest of the blood. The golden-coloured platelet-rich plasma is extracted from the blood and reinjected into the patient’s area of concern with very small 1.5mm micro-needles.  The remaining plasma is massaged into the same area and left to soak into the pores to improve results.

Before and after photos will be done too to document your progress with the treatment.

How quickly can I see the effects of the treatment?

The effects of the treatment will show after approximately 4- 6 weeks as the cells react and regenerate to the plasma.
